Florida Cyclist Dies in Bicycle Accident with Car

Another bicycle fatality strikes Florida as a male cyclist dies after being hit by a car in Crestview. Florida Highway Patrol informed the media that on February 23, 2017, Mark Dunafan died at age 56. Mr. Dunafan was cycling down County Road 393 outside of Crestview a little less than a foot away from the solid white divider line painted on the shoulder of the road. It appears from the report that Mr. Dunafan was safely cycling in accordance with Florida bicycle law. The driver of the car that struck Mr. Dunafan was Kelvin J. Williamson who was just 19 years of age. Tragically, Mr. Dunafan was thrown off his bike and onto the hood of Mr. Williamson's Chevy Cobalt. The cyclist then rolled off of the car and onto the street. The Florida bicycle crash occurred near the intersection of CR 393 and Harielson Road. Our deepest condolences go to the Dunafan family.
