Miami Bicycle Accident leaves 1 Cyclist Injured and 1 Dead

A tragic Miami Beach bicycle accident involving a hit and run driver and 2 cyclists has left one cyclist dead and the other severely injured. The Miami bike crash took place on the Rickenbacker Causeway connecting Miami with Miami Beach. It is unknown at this time which lane the bike riders were cycling in on the causeway. Alejandro Alvarez, 21, was arrested by Miami Dade Police. He is charged with DUI and manslaughter for hitting the Miami bike riders and driving away. 

The Victims of the Miami Bike Accident

Sadly, Walter Reyes, a 49 year old Miami resident, died as a result of the deadly Miami bike accident which took place in the eastbound lane of the Rickenbacker Causeway. The surviving bike rider, Henry Hernandez, was rushed to Mercy Hospital. Medically, Henry Hernandez is in 'serious condition.' NBC news Miami reports that it appears the bicyclists were observing all applicable traffic laws and that the driver was at fault.
